CSR drive during Ramadan
Ramadan is a time for sharing and giving – at all levels of our organisation and community – from top management to service providers to residents and on-site workers. And our efforts to share the spirit of the season with community staff, security personnel, labourers as well as the residents was achieved through daily Iftars across 16 locations, and a clothes collection drive within Emaar communities.
From the start of Ramadan on 28 June 2014, ECM distributed more than 3,000 meals every day for an entire month at community mosques, site offices, and labour camps with the help of site team members. A common sight at our Iftars was residents and retailers sitting down and sharing a meal together with service providers, daily labourers and workers irrespective of their social status or cultural background. Iftar tents were setup by mosques at Al Samad and Al Wahab in The Meadows, Al Wahed in The Springs, Al Rahim in Dubai Marina, Al Rahman Mosque in Arabian Ranches and Al Ghafoor in Downtown Dubai.
Workers and service provider staff living at labour camps across Al-Quoz, Jebel Ali, and Muhaisnah were equally pleased to be part of the mass Iftar initiative and were served more than 97,340 meals throughout the holy month. In addition, communities such as The Greens & Views, Dubai Marina, and Arabian Ranches also opened up site offices for Iftar for their security guards, lifeguards, MEP staff and cleaning staff on account of the solemn occasion.
Service providers and Interim Board members were also invited to Iftars in Arabian Ranches and Emirates Living for a meal together with their working staff to encourage and build a sense of belonging within the working structure of their community.
Clothes collection for charity
As a community manager, it is important for us to seriously consider giving back to the community and society as a whole. This was done in our collaboration with the Beit Al Khair Society, who installed collection banks in our communities. Posters encouraging residents to drop in clothes for the needy were put up and the results were impressive. 475 suitcases filled with pre-owned clothes weighing a total of 14,270 kgs were collected from Emirates Living, Arabian Ranches, and The Greens & Views.
Overall during the blessed month of Ramadan, Emaar Community Management sent home a message of camaraderie and social involvement to make community living a caring and peaceful experience for everyone involved.
