We have talked about the importance of being fire-ready, however, we understand that an individual who is not able to move physically requires assistance in the event of an emergency. We now have an evacuation chair in the community which can be used by trained security during evacuation.
• On the ground level they can be used as a normal wheelchair, however, while descending the stairs, the tracks attached to the chair are deployed creating a bridge between the steps.
• While this may seem to be a hybrid of a chair, a stretcher, and a wheelchair, they are easy to maneuver and extremely sturdy.
• The safety straps ensure the person is secure and comfortable.
The security team is equipped with a list of disabled, aged, or other mobility-impaired residents, who will be provided special assistance during an emergency.
